SONOGRAPHER (ULTRASOUND TECHNICIAN)
Duties & Responsibilities:
Sonographers, or ultrasound technologists, work with equipment that directs very high frequency sound waves into the body tissues to produce images or pictures of internal organs, diseased masses, and fetuses. These images are then used by physicians to diagnose and treat patients. Some sonographers specialize in examining certain areas of the body, such as the brain, the heart, and the pelvis. As part of their responsibilities, sonographers also check patients’ medical histories, explain procedures, determine the best patient positions to produce the images, and operate photography and printout equipment. Most sonographers work in hospitals.

Average Salary: $24,000 - $38,000

Educational Requirements:
Students should take the most challenging science, math, and English courses available in high school.
Sonographer training programs are offered at community colleges and hospitals. They can be completed in one to four years depending on prior work experience. Sonographers must pass annual certification tests after completing training.

SOCIAL WORKER
Duties & Responsibilities:
 Social workers help people and their families adjust to problems in their lives such as serious illness, child abuse, substance abuse, mental illness, handicaps, juvenile delinquency, and anti-social behavior. Often they must help people accept situations that cannot be changed. Frequently they work with the underclass, including the homeless, chronically unemployed, and mentally ill. Most social work for the government in offices, hospitals, clinics, prisons, or the courts. Some also work in nursing homes, group homes, schools, or businesses. Their duties often include:

·       Interviewing and counseling individuals , families, and groups.
·       Assessing needs and developing response plans.
·       Referring clients to professional or community services.
·       Coordinating responses between civic, religious, governmental, and other organizations.

Average Salary: $20,000 - $42,000

Educational Requirements:
Students should prepare for a career in social work by taking challenging high school courses, especially in English, science, and math.
Some organizations may allow a social worker to practice with a bachelor’s degree in social work, however most (including all health and mental health) positions require a graduate degree. Clinical positions require additional licensing after the completion of one or two year supervised internships.

X-RAY TECHNICIAN!!
Duties & Responsibilities:
 Radiologic Technologists use x-ray machines, ultrasound machines, magnetic resonance scanners, positron emission scanners, and other technologically advanced machines to help diagnose and treat illnesses and injuries under the direction of a physician. They are responsible for explaining and getting patients ready for radiological tests and treatment that will be performed. They place the equipment at the right distance and right angle from the patient to make the appropriate images for the physicians.

Average Salary: $24,000 - $36,000


Educational Requirements:
Students should take the most challenging science, math, and English courses available in high school.


To become a registered radiologic technologist, students must complete a two year training program in a hospital or school. A high school diploma or GED is required for entry into these programs.
