PERFUSIONIST
Duties & Responsibilities:
The clinical perfusionists operate circulation equipment during medical situations when it’s necessary to temporarily and artificially replace the patient’s circulatory or the respiratory functions. This occurs when doing heart surgery and similar operations. Perfusionists also control the temperature of patients during surgery. Their duties include:
·        Operating heart-lung machines
·        Administering some types of anesthesia.
·        Administering some types of medication.
Average Salary: $50,000
Educational Requirements:

A high school diploma with a strong background in biology and chemistry is required to be accepted in perfusionist training programs. Admissions preference is given to the students with college science work or that have experience in respiratory therapy and medical terminology. The perfusionists training programs are given at academic health centers and medical schools and universities.

These patient representatives work for healthcare administrators to address the concerns and the special needs of the patients and their families. They also evaluate the patient satisfaction, investigate complaints, collect information about the patient dissatisfaction, they work with departments to resolve patient problems, and educate the staff. The patient representatives work in hospitals, nursing homes, other long-term care facilities, and also in public health agencies.

Educational Requirements:
The students should take challenging high school courses in business, science, math, science, and English. Requirements difference, but most employers prefer college graduates with backgrounds in health or social services.

Osteopathic physicians are those who use accepted methods of diagnosing and treating injuries and diseases. Although they do practice in all the branches of medicine and surgery like (Allopathic Physicians (M.D’s) they difference by emphasizing the importance of the musculoskeletal system, holistic medicine, including proper nutrition, and environmental factors in maintaining good health. Osteopaths use a hands-on approach medicine and to frequently manipulate or palpate as part of diagnosis and the treatment.

Optometrist treat problems of the vision. The way they treat vision problems is by diagnosing the problem & then prescribing corrective glasses, contact lenses, or vision therapy. Some of the optometrists specialize in industrial vision safety, treatment of vision safety. Most of the optometrists are self-employed, however many work for hospitals, government  agencies, and optical manufacturers, or universities.

Educational Requirements:
Students that are interested in becoming an optometrist should take the most challenging high school courses (AP or IB) that are available in math, science, and English. Before entering an optometry school students should have at least two years of college in a pre- professional program is required. The optometry class is four years in length.

OPTICIAN!    
Duties & Responsibilities:
Opticians fit and dispense eyeglasses for patients based upon prescriptions written by ophthalmologists or optometrists. Opticians help the costumers select eyeglass frames and then measure their faces so that correct size frames can be ordered. They also measure the distance between the corneas of the eyes so that the lenses may be correctly fitted in the frames.
Average Salary: $19,000 - $40,000
Educational Requirements:
Students should take high school courses in physics, algebra, mechanical drawing, and geometry. A high school diploma or GED certificate is needed to begin the training as an optician. There are two types of training programs . Students can either complete an approved three year on-the- job apprenticeship.

Optical laboratory technicians fit eyeglass lenses into frames according to prescriptions written by ophthalmologists or optometrists. Technicians set lens grinding machine so that lens blanks are ground and polished. Many work in retail stores that have optical departments.
Average Salary: $15,000 - $20,000
Educational Requirements:

The needed requirements are a high school diploma or GED certificate to begin optical laboratory training. The training programs last between six months and one year & are provided by vocational schools and community colleges.

When it’s necessary, they perform eye surgery.  Most of the ophthalmologists are in private practice, however some are employed by hospitals or clinics, & others perform research.

Educational Requirements:
Only physicians may study to become ophthalmologists. After completing medical school and internship, an ophthalmologist must then complete a three to five year residency in an approved ophthalmology program

·        Explaining diagnostic & treatment procedures to patients.

Educational Requirements:
Students will need a high school diploma or (GED certificate). And also two years college prior to beginning ophthalmic training programs .
Reflection: I don’t think I would want to be a ophthalmic technician because I’m interesting in doing something else. (: !

            Operating room technicians are also called surgical technicians. They assist in preparing operating rooms for surgery. They are responsible for having surgical instruments, sterile bandages, & linens, needed fluids, and other equipment. They deliver specimen to hospital laboratories for analysis.
Average Salary:
$16,000 - $22,000
Educational Requirements:

To have a high school diploma or GED certificate is required. Many vocational & junior colleges offer programs in operating room technology , and training may also be taken at large hospitals.
